S.M.A.R.T Goals

Updated: Nov 9, 2022

If you are here you are certainly a goal seeker, you want to achieve your goals.

So here I am today to talk with you about S.M.A.R.T goals. Yes S.M.A.R.T goals are smart also but there are more than that. This will also give you a deeper understanding of goal setting.

S.M.A.R.T Goals ARE:

  • Specific: being clear and specific makes goals and actions easier to achieve - and start!

  • Measurable: helps you know when a goal or action is complete and measure progress

  • Actionable: ensures you have direct control over the actions needed to achieve the goal

  • Realistic: avoid overwhelm and unnecessary stress and frustration by making the goal realistic

  • Timebound: helps us stay focused and motivated, inspiring us with a date to work towards

TIP: A SMART goal is easier to achieve (and track progress for), because it's clearly defined.

S.M.A.R.T goal setting is a creative process! We start with a vision or an idea and gradually refine it, making it more specific and measurable so that it becomes a goal we can take action on. As a coach I am here to support you with powerful questions to define and make your goals become actionable, achievable - and SMART! Usually people set the goal but don't know from where to start, or they don't really believe they can achieve that goal and the list goes on. It's really important to be Specific, to have a clear view for yourself where you are targeting to, and have your antennas open. Also many people struggle with getting started on their goals - simply because they haven't made their goals specific enough. Measurable, to know the exact point of your success. Let's say I want to be a billionaire, yeah that great but how much exactly? How will I know If I have achieved my goal? If you can't prove you've completed the goal then it's not measurable. Measurability is a very important part of making your goals specific. Actionable goals are those you can DO something about, where there are a number of actions that lead to achievement of that goal. Actionable, connects so much with being Realistic because your ego talk might come into the way but when you know you will achieve this win the road is open. It's important to factor in existing commitments and lifestyle when setting goals. Yes goals and actions need to be challenging enough to give you the force but they need to be realistic enough that you believe you can achieve it and warming up yourself to win it. Timebound is your force to proceed with your action plan and gives us the opportunity to visualize your win. I am always here to support you to create your S.M.A.R.T goals and design your wins!
